Kat Statman is a Shareholder at GableGotwals, where his practice focuses on complex litigation and incident response for public companies and privately held entities across an array of industries, including the energy sector. Kat brings broad civil litigation experience, where he has represented companies at trial across a diverse array of industries and legal claims.

His experience includes advising clients on commercial disputes, catastrophic injuries, toxic torts, and products liability. Kat also advises clients on regulatory issues impacting the energy sector, both on and offshore.

As part of Kat’s practice, he responds to industrial incidents often involving workplace injuries and environmental risk exposure and defends regulatory claims involving industrial failure and clean-up, risk assessments, and water safety.

Kat’s recent experience includes:

  • Defended natural gas pipeline companies in litigation involving workplace safety claims, including providing advice regarding regulatory reporting related to workplace safety after an industrial incident with state and federal regulatory agencies.*
  • Prosecuted claims on behalf of natural gas pipeline related to property damage and product loss as a result of an industrial construction incident.*
  • Defended global engineering and construction firm against claims related to remediation of oil and gas producing properties with pre-existing soil and groundwater contamination.*
  • Defended chemical companies in CERCLA Superfund action in the Southern District of Texas.*
  • Successfully prosecuted and represented fire protection systems contractor in an oil and gas industrial facility construction dispute.*
  • Defended midstream oil and gas company in gas gathering agreement dispute.*
  • Advised large industrial construction company regarding lien rights, contractual issues, and state regulatory permitting issues under Texas law related to large scale industrial projects.*
  • Defended post-construction water treater in large commercial construction dispute related to significant building water system failure in Boston, MA.*
  • Defended first reported Legionella wrongful death case against a chemical water treater from the trial court through appeal before the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.*
  • Defended product manufacturer and supplier in large scale mass actions and multidistrict litigation involving products liability claims wrongly bundled together across the United States.*
