In a 5–4 decision, the Court held that the new law creating specialized business courts violated the Oklahoma Constitution’s requirement that trial judges be elected rather than appointed by the Governor.

GableGotwals Shareholder Adam Doverspike was appointed to the Task Force for the Study of Business Courts, which was created by Senate Bill 473 to study, evaluate, and provide recommendations regarding the potential creation of business courts in Oklahoma.
GableGotwals has provided independent counsel to the Advisory Committee, with the anticipation that it will continue support the Founding Board over the coming months.
