July 28, 2025 | GableGotwals recently received the Good Apple Award for Pro Bono Firm of the Year from the Oklahoma Appleseed Center for Law & Justice. Oklahoma Appleseed is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting for justice and opportunity for all Oklahomans. As part of the Appleseed Network, it works alongside justice centers across the U.S. and Mexico to reduce poverty, combat discrimination, and strengthen democracy.

The Good Apple Awards are bestowed annually to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of individuals and organizations serving their communities. This year, the Firm was recognized for its outstanding commitment to justice through public service.

“It is an honor to be recognized by Oklahoma Appleseed as the Pro Bono Firm of the Year,” said GableGotwals Shareholder and Board Member of Oklahoma Appleseed, Michael Scoggins. “We recently collaborated with Oklahoma Appleseed to help secure Lisa Moss’ release under the Oklahoma Survivors’ Act—the first person to successfully obtain a resentencing through new legislation by proving abuse played a significant role in Moss’ crime.”

GableGotwals attorneys remain actively involved in pro bono efforts with Oklahoma Appleseed, including Whitney Humphrey’s work on an initiative petition reform matter before the Oklahoma Supreme Court and Will Stringer’s ongoing support of survivors under the Oklahoma Survivors’ Act.
