GableGotwals Announces Joseph “Joe” L. McCormick IV has Joined the Firm

November 2, 2026 | GableGotwals is pleased to welcome Joseph “Joe” L. McCormick IV as a Shareholder in the Tulsa office. Joe brings more than two decades of energy industry experience, most recently as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Assistant Secretary of ONE Gas Inc., and previously served in public service with the State of Oklahoma. His experience includes administrative and regulatory law, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.

Before ONE Gas became a standalone public company, Joe served as Vice President and Associate General Counsel for ONEOK Inc.’s three gas distribution divisions, after joining ONEOK in 2003 as managing attorney for Oklahoma Natural Gas. Earlier in his career, he served as an assistant general counsel for the Oklahoma Insurance Department and later as an assistant attorney general.

Joe’s in-house and government experience equips him well to counsel businesses from the vantage point of regulator, regulated company, and corporate decision-maker.

Within the industry, Joe has spent years involved with the American Gas Association’s Legal Committee, including a term as chair of its executive committee. In 2023, he helped revive the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) and served as president of the newly reinstated chapter. He remains on the chapter’s board, helping advance its work statewide.

Joe received his B.A. in Public Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma and his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
