Recent studies reveal an alarming number of Americans—about 61.5 million or one in four adults—suffer a mental health impairment. There has been a surge in the number of charges of mental health disability discrimination resulting in the EEOC recovered about $20 million from employers for people with mental health conditions who claimed they were denied employment or job accommodations in violation of the ADA in 2016 alone.
